Midwest Transport Services (MTS) is a for-profit non-emergency medical transportation provider proudly serving the local and long-distance transportation to various locations throughout Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
Founded by two experienced professionals, Mark and Annette Smith, inspiration for starting MTS originated as a result of their collective work experience and in helping others.
In working as a pharmacy technician, Annette frequently engaged with and assisted area seniors. In recognizing the increasing need for more timely and reliable support services catering specifically to seniors and those with mobility and memory care issues, inspiration for a more timely and reliable transportation solution was born. After conducting various market and demographic research, Mark, a Certified Project Manager by trade, realized firsthand this growing and underserved sector.
Inspired by the great opportunity to offer a more timely and reliable transportation solution, Mark and Annette launched Midwest Transport Solutions, but unlike other services operating as a curb-to-curb service, MTS is committed to safely escorting patients and residents from their residence or facility to a clean, comfortable, and modern wheelchair accessible vehicle. On arrival at their appointment, trained staff will escort clients to check-in.
In leveraging years of professional training and experience, Mark, Annette and the entire MTS team continues to build strong relationships with area staff, patients, and families. Rather than focusing exclusively on volume and profits, MTS is keenly focused on providing exceptional and timely customer service with the compassion you and your loved ones deserve.

We are continuously striving to implement effective strategies for enhanced training, integrated technologies, and managerial support and communication. Because we provide local and long distance transportation, effective planning and communication between dispatch and key facilities is paramount.
We continuously work on enhancing our scheduling and traffic management in an effort to reduce travel and wait times while increasing efficiency. We work to adapt and implement policies and procedures to support our mission, to analyze and advise on transportation issues, evaluate scheduling conflicts, negotiate and correspond with carriers, vendors, and strategic partners.
Dispatchers will receive extensive instruction on using our technological integration systems designed to support our growing scheduling and logistical demands. Dispatchers are responsible for the following:
- Customer intake
- Preparation of daily schedules and trip manifests
- Effective driver management and scheduling
- Trip management and oversight
- Coordination with facility personnel
